For the past few days, reports have insisted Wout Weghorst is Manchester United’s main striker target in January. He is currently on loan at Beşiktaş from Burnley.

According to Milliyet, the 30-year-old has a deal in place with the Red Devils and wants to join them as soon as possible.

The Netherlands international’s current loan deal is until the end of this season. The report says the Black Eagles are planning to get at least €4.5m from Burnley, while the latter offer €2.5m in compensation.

Milliyet have got a comment from Beşiktaş president Ahmet Nur Çebi on the possibility of letting the player go.

“With the victories over Adana Demirspor and Kasımpaşa, we caught a good mood again. In this critical period, I will not leave the team without a striker. If we agree on the terms after getting a quality striker, we will send Weghorst away. Otherwise, Weghorst will stay in the team,” Çebi said.

Over at Habertürk, they provide details of the negotiations between Burnley, Manchester United and Beşiktaş. The Championship club initially offered €2m compensation to the Black Eagles and this figure was improved to €3m after further discussions.

The Turkish club also need to find a replacement before letting the striker leave. Al Nassr’s Vincent Aboubakar is identified as the target and his club are close to terminating his contract so that they can register their new signing, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Beşiktaş will sit down with Aboubakar once his contract with Al Nassr is terminated. The report explains he is ‘warm’ to the idea of joining them and ‘hot developments’ are expected this week.

If Aboubakar agrees to join Beşiktaş, it will allow Weghorst to seal a move to Manchester United this month.

Meanwhile, De Telegraaf claim Weghorst will immediately move to the English club on a loan. They further add he has been a ‘serious option’ for Ten Hag since the World Cup.

Like Habertürk, the Dutch newspaper also state Burnley will pay €3m to Beşiktaş to cut short the player’s temporary stay. The Clarets in return will be compensated by Manchester United.
