Lille have identified Rangers star Alfredo Morelos as one of their targets to replace Victor Osimhen.
The latter is expected to seal a move to Napoli in the coming days, and the Ligue 1 side will need to bring in a replacement for Osimhen this summer.
Gérard López, the French club’s president, told L’Equipe on Monday about his side’s plans to bolster the strike force for the new season.
The newspaper also explained Steven Gerrard’s man is ‘in agreement with Lille’, but there is no agreement between Rangers and Lille for the transfer.
RMC Sport echoes L’Equipe’s claims and states there’s an agreement in place between Christophe Galtier’s side and the Colombia international. Apart from Morelos, Lille are also interested in Gent’s Jonathan David and Beşiktaş’ Burak Yılmaz.
When explaining Lille’s transfer plans, the club owner confirmed his side’s interest in the Rangers attacker.
“It is not uncommon that we have agreements with two or even three players for one position and then we look at which player combines better with another, etc…” López said.
“Morelos; It is true that he is a player that interests us. It is also true that he is interested in LOSC. But we are in middle of the discussion, nothing is done.”
Speaking to Win Sports, Morelos has also responded to the recent reports about a possibility of moving to France this summer.
“If they make me choose between the European leagues, I like them all, it’s up to me to make a decision. Now I am waiting because there is nothing concrete, it will be known when it is fixed,” the 24-year-old said.
Morelos has three years left on his contract at Ibrox.
