Barcelona president Joan Laporta has admitted that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be presented as the club’s new player later this week.
The forward arrived in the Spanish city on Monday and reports in England had indicated Arsenal had not given him permission to travel to Barcelona.
He was frozen out at the north London club by Mikel Arteta and last featured for the Gunners in their league defeat against Everton in the first week of December.
The La Liga side initially wanted to take the Gabon international on a loan deal from the Gunners. However, reports late on Monday indicated the 32-year-old has terminated his contract at Arsenal s and will move to the Camp Nou on a free transfer.
El Chiringuito TV explained the former Borussia Dortmund man’s contract with Arsenal was terminated just minutes before the window closed yesterday. This has now been backed up by Laporta.
“The documentation arrived when there was one minute to go before the window closed. If all goes well, we will present Aubameyang at the end of the week,” Laporta said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
