Chelsea failed to qualify for the Champions League after finishing outside of the top four last season.

Earlier in the summer, the west London club parted ways with Antonio Conte and replaced him with his compatriot, Maurizio Sarri, who helped Napoli challenge Juventus for the Serie A title last season.

Under the Italian manager’s guidance, the English club are unbeaten in all competitions and are third in the table with 28 points after 12 games, four points behind leaders Manchester City.

Former Juventus youth coach Vincezo Chiarenza gave an interview to Sport Witness and shared his thoughts on Chelsea since the 59-year-old took charge at Stamford Bridge.

“Sarri is a great professional. I see Chelsea play at great speed and it’s entertaining to see his style of play, like he did with Napoli,” Chiarenza told Sport Witness.

“The Premier League is different from Serie A in Italy, but I think he will have a good season.”

Sarri started his coaching career almost three decades ago, but has never guided any of the clubs he’s managed to silverware since 1990.

Chiarenza is of the belief the former Empoli coach has abilities to win his first title with Chelsea this season, but admitted it is too early to predict due to the competitiveness of the Premier League.

“It’s [Premier League] is a very difficult league. Conversely to what’s happening in Italy, there are three or four clubs [in England] that can be competitive until the end of the season and the winner could be a question mark. Sarri has qualities to target this goal,” he explained.
