Having lost El Clasico 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabéu, it was only a matter of time before talk of Carlo Ancelotti being moved on would appear, and, shock horror, it has.

Admittedly, it comes from Sport, who are a Catalan based outlet, so it might be worth taking with a pinch of salt, but they claim the Italian ‘doesn’t have any guarantees’ that he will continue as the Real Madrid manager after June 30th.

Not only that, but should he leave, one of the men touted to replace him is Thomas Tuchel, currently contracted to Chelsea.

The German has made it clear he will at least see out the season with the Blues amid their current restrictions following the sanctions placed upon Roman Abramovich, and a lot could then depend on the next owners.

Who that is remains a mystery despite a flurry of bids for the Stamford Bridge side, but Sport explain Tuchel is ‘the best positioned’ on the list of candidates of potential Ancelotti replacements, which also includes names such as Jürgen Klopp, Mauricio Pochettino, Raúl and Xabi Alonso.

The Italian’s future at the Bernabéu will ‘basically depend on the team securing the La Liga title and the run they have in the Champions League’.

Securing the league should be fairly straightforward considering they have a nine point cushion on Sevilla, ‘but if a debacle occurs in the next few games and the team doesn’t win the title’, then Florentino Pérez ‘will not hesitate to fire Ancelotti again’.

Regarding Tuchel, his name has ‘entered with force’, and the fact Chelsea are in the situation they are in means Madrid ‘know that the negotiation will be much easier, despite the fact he has a contract until 2024’.

Not only that, but ‘the reports that Pérez handles about Tuchel are very positive’, because the work he has done with the Blues ‘is recognisable’, having won the Champions League last year, seeing off Real Madrid along the way.

Something to think about over the next few months, even if it seems unlikely that Madrid will bottle La Liga at this stage.
