The war between Chelsea and Diego Costa has been pretty tense for both parties involved, and the lack of a decision about the striker’s future is starting to worry his potential suitors as well.

As reported by Spanish outlet AS, Costa’s former club Atletico Madrid are concerned about the public statements from both sides.

The Spaniards know they can’t do much for now, so are just sitting and waiting for Chelsea to call and say the player is finally available for negotiation. Chelsea are expected to pick up the telephone and invite Atletico for talks.

The transfer is obviously not so easy to make happen, besides the deal between the clubs, there’s also the issue that Atletico Madrid are forbidden to register players until the January window.

Either the Spanish side or Chelsea need to send Costa on a six month loan first, or he accepts to stay half a season without playing.

AS says that Atletico are waiting for everything to be clear so they can put money on the table and start talking. Until then, nothing is going to happen.

Atletico’s stance doesn’t sound too helpful for Chelsea or Costa.

The Spanish club seem unwilling to make any effort whatsoever to try and help the situation resolve itself, waiting instead for Chelsea and Costa to tear each other to pieces, and a deal presumably become cheaper.
