As Chelsea and Palmeiras stand very close to a deal for Estêvão’s transfer, the Brazilian media continue to share some new details on the negotiations.
Goal Brasil today has a story saying the sale is underway, with the Blues paying €45m plus €20m in bonuses.
Those add-ons, however, may take a while to be triggered, because each 20 games Estêvão plays for Chelsea, they’d pay €5m, until he reaches 80 appearances for the club.
The player is only moving to Europe next summer, when he turns 18, and Globo Esporte has something to say about that as well.
It’s said that Palmeiras are working to hold the player for the Club World Cup, also played next summer, and only then let him join Chelsea.
Regarding his €45m release clause, the Blues are not triggering that because they’d like to pay the fixed amount in several instalments. That opens the possibility for the transfer to be made for more, and that’s exactly what is happening.
Chelsea can’t complain much, since there are many other clubs who are willing to sign the youngster as well.
