It shouldn’t come as a surprise, and it doesn’t, but Radja Nainggolan is getting a new contract.

The Belgian midfielder, who spent all summer contradicting himself about Chelsea’s interest, eventually stayed at Roma, and seemed pretty happy to do so.

According to Corriere dello Sport, of all the players to get new contracts this season at the Serie A club, Nainggolan will be the first one, and it’ll be a big one.

We say big one, it’ll be a big one for Roma, as the former Genoa midfielder will be handed the second largest salary at the club, behind the one and only Daniele De Rossi.

This equates to a £80k/week salary (bonuses included) post tax, compared to the veteran Italian’s £105k/week post tax.

The Italian newspaper say this has pretty much all been agreed, meaning that any club who want to buy him from Roma next season are probably going to have pay more than the €45m that was rejected over the course of this transfer window.
