Sevilla star Jules Koundé’s decision to reject Tottenham Hotspur’s approach has paid off as Chelsea are now showing an interest to acquire his services.
On July 27th, Gianluca Di Marzio reported the Blues are optimistic of completing the defender’s signing in the summer window.
Julen Lopetegui’s side took on Paris Saint-Germain in a friendly at Estádio Algarve on Tuesday and the 22-year-old didn’t feature against the Ligue 1 club.
That could be because of the Champions League winners’ desire to sign the centre-back, according to ABC Sevilla.
It’s claimed the west London club’s ‘interest is real’ to sign the France international and they have ‘reached an agreement’ with the player for a five-year contract.
Thomas Tuchel’s side must now negotiate with Sevilla to find an agreement for the former Bordeaux man’s transfer. According to the report, negotiations haven’t started yet and it remains for Chelsea to ‘begin’ talks with the La Liga side.
With Chelsea and Koundé already agreeing a deal, it would only be a matter of time before the Premier League side start negotiating with Sevilla.
Koundé has publicly expressed his desire to take next step in his career and a move to Stamford Bridge would help him fulfil it.
AS, meanwhile, explain the Frenchman didn’t feature against PSG because he only started training on Friday, although they suggest a move to Chelsea is very possible if the Blues push.
