Chelsea have started the season strongly under Antonio Conte, and the London side are just one point away from the top of the table.

The Blues registered an emphatic 4-0 against Manchester United yesterday at Stamford Bridge, but reports in the media continue to link them with a number of defenders.

Chelsea tried signing host of defenders during the summer transfer window, but their efforts maybe weren’t enough to please Conte.

AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli was strongly linked with a move to Chelsea during the transfer window, and latest reports suggest Conte is ready to revive his interest in the Italian defender.

According to Italian website Calciomercato, Roman Abramovich is ready to spend as much as €55m for Romagnoli at Conte’s request.

AC Milan signed the 21-year-old for €25m last summer, and Chelsea reportedly made a bid in a similar range during this summer.

AC Milan have been quite reluctant about the idea of selling Romagnoli in the near future, but a big money bid from Chelsea could certainly change things.
