Earlier on Wednesday, we covered an article from Gazzetta dello Sport that AC Milan were pushing to get a deal done for Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Well, Calciomercato.it bring an update a few hours later, claiming that the valuation of the player is actually lower than the previous stated €25m.
They point out the Chelsea midfielder’s contract expires in 2024, but there would be an option to extend it to 2025, and the Blues reportedly see him as a €15-20m asset.
However, Milan are currently ‘working to lower the demands’, because they know full well that Loftus-Cheek doesn’t really have a future at Stamford Bridge.
It’s made clear that he is not ‘part of the future plans’ of the club, and certainly not in those of newly appointed manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Following the heavy spending from Todd Boehly, it’s clear Chelsea need to reduce the amount of players in their squad and make some profit, and selling someone like Loftus-Cheek is the ideal way of doing so, since he’s a product of the youth academy and didn’t cost anything in the first place.
The 27-year-old was used fairly regularly last season, making 33 appearances in all competitions, picking up three assists.
