After allowing Romelu Lukaku to return to Inter Milan on loan in June, Chelsea completed Timo Werner’s sale to RB Leipzig on Wednesday.
It won’t be a surprise if the west London club look to sign a new striker after letting both Lukaku and Werner move elsewhere.
Sport state Chelsea ‘insist’ on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and they are ‘willing to force a negotiation’ with Barcelona to try to sign him.
The Premier League side maintain an interest in the 33-year-old, who previously played under Tuchel when they both were at Borussia Dortmund. The manager is said to be ‘putting pressure’ on Chelsea owner Todd Boehly, to ‘make a good offer and fight’ for the forward.
If and when the offer arrives, it will be studied, but as of today, it is Memphis Depay who is likelier to leave the club.
Xavi Hernández has declared Aubameyang non-transferable because he is vital to coach’s plans this season. Although Barcelona respect the manager’s stance, Sport state they are ‘obliged to listen’ to all offers that arrive at the Camp Nou.
With the La Liga side ‘obliged’ to listen to offer, it’ll be interesting to see what Barca and the attacker will do if the Blues submit a proposal to secure his signature.
