Chelsea ‘would be willing’ to pay a transfer fee in excess of €10m to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko rather than wait until the summer when he’s available on a free.
That’s according to Sport, who say the Blues want to ‘steal’ the player away from Barcelona next month and would pay to do so.
They report that the Catalan side are ‘well placed’ to secure the services of Moukoko, whose contract at Dortmund expires at the end of the season.
The Blaugrana are aware that Moukoko is ‘very excited’ about a possible move to the Nou Camp, prioritising the sporting aspect over the economic one, and Barcelona’s project ‘attracts him’ in that regard.
The problem for them is that they have Robert Lewandowski leading the line and thus can’t guarantee him a starting place.
That’s something Chelsea are looking to play on as they are also ‘trying to get their hands’ on the player’s signature.
They are ‘willing to pay’ a transfer fee for the player, in excess of €10m, to secure the striker’s signature ahead of the competition next month.
Whether Chelsea’s argument of more playing time is enough to convince the player isn’t mentioned, but that appears to be their strategy, as well as a willingness to pay, as they fight with Barça for the player’s signature.
