Chelsea are named as Barcelona’s competitor in the chase to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko.

Sport state the La Liga side have shifted their focus on the 18-year-old after Real Madrid took lead to sign Palmeiras’ Endrick.

Moukoko’s deal expires in 2023 and it would be advisable for Barca to take him for free next summer than investing big on the Brazilian. It also means they have to pay the BVB player high wages due to his ‘enormous quality’.

The Catalan club will not have it easy to sign the Germany international because other clubs have contacted the striker’s entourage. Among them is Chelsea and it’s claimed the Blues are ‘willing to pay a fortune’ to get the young player to Stamford Bridge.

Graham Potter’s side will have to convince the teenager to join them, however, as Barca, have been made aware Moukoko will either sign a new deal at BVB and favour a move to the Camp Nou.

The Blaugrana must therefore decide whether to sign the youngster or bring in an experienced player to bolster their attack.

Chelsea, for their part, need to offer a convincing sporting project to Moukoko if they wish to get him to the west London club, as their history of signing young talent and then playing them hasn’t always been the best.
