On Tuesday, Corriere dello Sport reported that Chelsea intend to sign Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries as early as January.
The Blues’ interest in the right wing-back is also discussed by Calciomercato.
Chelsea and the Nerazzurri did business in the last window that saw Cesare Casadei join the west London club and Romelu Lukaku return to the San Siro on a dry loan deal.
Inter already have an ‘open discussion’ with the Premier League side over the striker’s future. This is mentioned when the outlet explains Trevoh Chalobah could be an option to replace Milan Škriniar.
Škriniar’s contract expires in 2023 and it is not clear whether he will sign a new deal. If he decides to leave, Inter will have to bring in a replacement and the Chelsea defender has been identified as one of the options.
Chalobah is liked by Inter and it could be relatively easy for them to negotiate his potential signing since there is an open dialogue with Graham Potter’s side for Lukaku.
The Belgian wants to stay in Milan and in the coming months, the two clubs could ‘sit down to find an agreement that satisfies all parties’. ‘It is not excluded’ that these talks could also be extended to Dumfries, who is liked by Chelsea.
After a complicated last campaign, the Netherlands international is doing well at Inter this term.
To sum it up, Chelsea like Dumfries and Inter’s leaders appreciate Chalobah’s profile. The duo could be up for discussion when the Blues hold talks with Inter for Lukaku in the coming months.
