Almost every day there’s an article in the Italian press which mentions Chelsea’s interest in Alex Sandro.
Over the past week or so there’s been more than usual, because Juventus are looking to give the Brazilian a new contract, which would push Antonio Conte interest further away.
The fullback already has a contract until June 2020, but his wages are lower than they could be, and Juventus want to hand Sandro €5m a year (which will be after tax) and extend the deal until 2022.
Chelsea do not ‘give up’ say Corriere dello Sport, but the Italian newspaper believes their efforts are futile. Sandro hasn’t shown signs of giving in to the temptations of Chelsea and the Premier League, so a renewal is thought to be much the likelier scenario right now.
Regardless, it’s stated Chelsea are preparing to raise their €60m offer from the summer, which was apparently rejected by Juventus, but they’d need to be quick.
Sandro would likely have to be convinced not to renew, and if that’s impossible it’s doubtful he’d push for an actual transfer in the following couple of windows.
