Chelsea are an ‘absolute suitor’ for Sevilla defender Jules Koundé and are building a package to secure his signature this summer.
That’s according to AS, Diario de Sevilla and ABC Sevilla, who all cover the player’s future today.
Koundé is widely expected to leave Sevilla this summer, with the Spanish side needing to secure big sales to balance the books after three years of not selling their stars.
The French centre-back is the most saleable asset in the squad and Chelsea are believed to be keen once again, having pushed hard to get him.
AS cover that today, explaining that Sevilla need to make at least €50m in sales to fix the ‘economic imbalance’ due to the pandemic.
One big sale is ‘imperative’ and Koundé, with Chelsea as an ‘absolute suitor’, has all the cards to fill the gap.
This is backed up by Diario de Sevilla, who say an exit for either Koundé or Diego Carlos has been ‘taken for granted for months’ and when it comes to the Frenchman, Chelsea are ‘still very interested’. In fact they are ‘studying their plan of action’ to buy him.
ABC add into that, stating that Koundé and Carlos could both be sold but the former is ‘several metres ahead’ of his teammate.
According to them ‘Chelsea will be the fate’ of the defender and they will complete a move for him once their ownership issue has been sorted out.
The newspaper, though, goes much higher than AS, stating that the Spanish side would be looking for a figure close to aKoundés €70m release clause.
That’s a big difference but whatever the price, it seems he could be moving to Stamford Bridge at some point in the coming months.
