Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele has ‘almost done a deal with Chelsea’ with an exit now ‘99% done‘.
That’s according to ABC in Spain, who say Barcelona are ‘very close to getting rid’ of the Frenchman after weeks of efforts to do so.
The newspaper explains that Dembele understands he has now place in Xavi’s plans a the Nou Camp after the signing of Adama Traore and the imminent arrival of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
He’s now on his way out, and ‘Chelsea will be his destination’ although negotiations are ‘not yet closed’ on a deal.
A source ‘very close’ to the negotiations has assured them that “it is 99 per cent done”, and Dembele will be signing for Chelsea on a deal until June 2026.
This source states that ‘if nothing goes wrong’, then Dembele will move to Stamford Bridge in a move that will free up Barcelona’s wage bill to complete the arrival of Aubameyang.
This is somewhat backed up by Mundo Deportivo, who say Dembele ‘could end up in the Premier League’ and Chelsea have appeared as the ‘most likely destination’ in the last few hours.
According to them, the player, his representatives and Barcelona have all given their ‘approval’ to a transfer, particularly his agent Moussa Sissoko, who has been promoting the idea of a move to England since it became clear Dembele wasn’t wanted at Barcelona.
The move to Chelsea would see him reunite with Thomas Tuchel, who he made 49 appearances under during their time together at Borussia Dortmund.
