It doesn’t matter who you play for, any footballer who manages to score 25 goals and assist another 13 in 37 appearances in Europe is going to attract attention.
Those are the numbers of Christopher Nkunku’s current season, and, as expected, big clubs are circling around the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, including Chelsea.
This comes courtesy of Foot Mercato, who look at the Frenchman’s incredible campaign to date, explaining that one of his goals is to convince Didier Deschamps to pick him for the France national team.
The good news for him is that suitors ‘are numerous and prestigious’, before naming Chelsea, Manchester City, Real Madrid and the Ligue 1 leaders.
All of these are ‘warned’, however, that signing Nkunku ‘will be expensive’, as RB Leipzig are asking for ‘no less than €75m’.
Now, normally we would say that such a sum might not be too much of a stretch for Chelsea in the summer, but considering the situation surrounding the Stamford Bridge residents and the uncertainty of their future since Roman Abramovich put his club up for sale, we’ll have to wait and see how things are come the summer.
