Having already offloaded a number of players to Saudi Arabia and other parts of the world, Chelsea are continuing their exodus.
One player they would love to get off their books is Romelu Lukaku, who has been a bit of a headache for them since he returned in a big money move from Inter Milan two years ago.
Gazzetta dello Sport have an article on his current situation on Friday, as his loan with the Serie A side expires on Friday, and his preference would be to avoid coming back to London if possible.
They explain the player is ‘madly in love’ with the Italian side, but despite turning down Al-Hilal twice, there’s only so much he can withstand.
Therefore, if Inter want to secure his services going forward, they ‘must hurry’, both in collecting the required money to convince Chelsea to let him leave and get a deal over the line.
For now, he has to wait for Inter to sell André Onana to Manchester United, at which point they will ‘try to relaunch’ an offer to the Blues.
Inter’s idea would be to put forward a ‘one year loan deal’, with ‘probably more’ than €5m paid up front, and then ‘adding an obligation to buy at €30m the following year’.
While Chelsea have ‘a much more attractive offer’ from Saudi Arabia on the table, they also ‘need to resolve this game as quickly as possible’.
That’s why Inter Milan will also offer some bonuses in the deal, with the amount to be paid likely to ‘increase considerably’ if they win Serie A and even more with a Champions League win, which they came so close to last season.
Perhaps that, mixed with the player’s desire, could be enough to get the green light from Chelsea.
