Mundo Deportivo report that despite the building reports, Chelsea have not yet made an offer to Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong.

The Blaugrana have been trying to sell the Dutchman all summer, wanting to get rid of his high wages and bring some more money in. There’s excitement in the Catalan media that Bernardo Silva could arrive at the Camp Nou in the coming weeks, but only if De Jong goes.

According to Mundo Deportivo’s report, Chelsea are waiting before making a ‘formal proposal’ to Barcelona. They want to make sure they can fully convince the player over a move, ahead of submitting an offer for his transfer.

De Jong is presented as still stalling over a move to Manchester United, but it’s thought he’d favour Chelsea for two reasons. Firstly, Thomas Tuchel’s side can offer him Champions League football, and secondly, it’s explained the player and his family would prefer he moved to London than Manchester, for lifestyle reasons.

Now it’s a matter of waiting to see the response De Jong gives to Chelsea, and whether they then go ahead and make an offer.
