Takvim report Galatasaray’s new central defender is likely to be from England as the Turkish club’s first choice is Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic.
The Serbian’s versatility is admired by Galatasaray manager Jan Olde Riekerink, who believes he can be a decent addition to the squad.
After their key defender Serdar Aziz suffered a season ending injury against Osmanlıspor, Galatasaray will be active in the transfer window looking for a centre back, and Chelsea’s Ivanovic emerged as the leading candidate.
CimBom will also be without Aurelien Chedjou as the Cameroonian will be heading to the Africa cup of Nations. This would mean next month the club would only have two senior defenders in Semih Kaya and Hakan Balta.
Galatasaray will also want to make the transfer happen without breaching the FFP rules and a loan move for the Chelsea defender could be on the cards, claims Takvim.
Ivanovic has struggled to get games ever since Antonio Conte switched to a 3-4-3 formation. The Italian manager prefers Victor Moses as his right wing back and he also favours Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz and Gary Cahill in his back three.
Ivanovic wants to move to a team that can give him regular football and Galatasaray certainly can offer him that.
According to Takvim, negotiations between Chelsea and Galatasaray will begin soon over the transfer Ivanovic.
