Fresh off having his loan deal with Betis cancelled prior to the January transfer window, Charly Musonda Jr. is back at Chelsea, where Antonio Conte is apparently keeping an eye on him.
The Italian manager, according to Musonda’s father, wants to evaluate the young forward over the next couple of weeks to see whether or not he is at a level to be of use to the first-team or not.
Plagued with a mysterious knee injury during his time in Spain, the player, now recovered, is an option for AS Roma in Italy, who see him as the ideal backup if their deal to bring West Ham’s Sofiane Feghouli to the Italian capital falls through.
Gazzetta dello Sport on Thursday report that Ricky Massara, Roma’s director of football, is keeping the channels open with Chelsea about a possible deal, wanting a loan with a view to buy at €8m being the starting point of negotiations.
Now, the Serie A club just have to hope that either West Ham agree to let Sofiane Feghouli go, or, if not, for Antonio Conte to allow his young forward to go out on loan again.
Otherwise, they’re back to square one.
