Jules Koundé is training alone at Sevilla as he waits for a potential move to Chelsea to be finalised.
That’s according to Marca, who say the Frenchman has accepted a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.
Earlier today, we covered a report from Sport that Chelsea were in ‘very advanced’ negotiations for Koundé, and a move could be imminent.
They predicted a late madness from Barcelona to try and stump the Blues, but as they couldn’t match their bid, it seemed unlikely they’d be successful.
Marca back that up today, reporting that Chelsea are the only club to have made an offer for the defender.
They’ve done this via super-agent Jorge Mendes, who has communicated to Sevilla their ‘intention to raise’ their offer to close to €65m.
No formal offer has been made as yet, but payment formulas are being discussed, and Koundé ‘accepts the English offer’. Chelsea have offered him a five-year deal, the same as they offered last year.
The operation is ‘in its final stages’, and in the meantime, Koundé continues to fulfil his obligations to Sevilla. He is, though, training alone as he returns from an injury that required surgery.
The big question is whether he will join his current teammates on a pre-season trip to Portugal this evening.
Sevilla are set to leave at 18:30, and while there is a place booked for him, it remains to be seen if he will travel as the outcome of his move to Chelsea ‘should not take long’.
Barcelona are still hoping the player will force a move to the Camp Nou, but Sevilla do not see that happening unless the Catalans can ‘overcome’ the Blues’ offer. That’s unlikely, so they believe Koundé is ‘a step away’ from Chelsea.
