Jules Koundé will remain a Sevilla player this summer if Chelsea do not raise their offer for him before the end of the transfer window.
That’s the stance offered by MARCA today, who say the Spanish side won’t be giving Chelsea any discount for the Frenchman.
They carry comments from Sevilla president José Castro, who was the Champions League draw in Istanbul yesterday and made the situation regarding Koundé clear.
“At the moment, Koundé is a Sevilla player,” he said.
“What we have done this year is to strengthen; we have signed six players. We want to have a strong team.
“We always study the offers that may come in. But the days are running out? At the moment, there is nothing.”
His stance was clear, either Chelsea ‘really go for their player’ or the deal may not happen, even though everyone involved wants to see it ‘come to fruition’.
If Chelsea do not raise their offer and come close to Sevilla’s valuation, then the defender will be staying and probably playing against Elche this weekend.
At the moment, the proposal stands at €50m, which Chelsea offered on Wednesday night but is lower than what Manchester City offered last year and ‘was not even considered’ by those in charge of the Andalusian club.
They would only sanction a sale for any offer that reaches the €70m barrier, particularly because 15% of any capital gain from the sale will be going to Koundé’s former club, Bordeaux.
Today is set to be ‘crucial’ in the negotiations as Kurt Zouma looks set to finalise a move to West Ham, which should give Chelsea €30m to reinvest in Koundé and raise their offer to satisfy Monchi’s demands.
