Although top Premier League sides normally do a lot of scouting in Portugal, Chelsea’s visits to Liga NOS are quite sporadic.
That’s why after the Blues watched Braga’s game against Benfica this weekend, their trip is highlighted by newspaper A Bola today.
The outlet says Chelsea scouts had been ‘away from Portuguese grounds for a while’, and then wonder who the emissaries could be watching in the Eagles’ 4-1 win.
A Bola wonders if Roman Abramovich could be spending some money on Braga talents, such as Trincão, and then names a few Benfica players, like João Félix, Ruben Dias and Ferro, as possible targets.
Chelsea have been linked to two of the four players named. The first one is João Félix, who’s been impressing this season, and has been linked to several European giants in the past few months.
There had been no big claims about Chelsea’s chase for him, as it’s only been said that the Blues are among the list of interested sides.
Regarding Trincão, Chelsea had been linked to the midfielder back last summer, when he was still to make his debut for Braga. The 19-year-old is now getting some playing time for the club, but is still to guarantee a spot in the team.
He’s protected by a €30m release clause.
