Many reports have claimed Eden Hazard is one of the players identified by Julen Lopetegui’s side to replace Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid.
Spanish newspaper Marca now reports the Champions League winners are likely to have a tough time signing the 27-year-old this summer, mainly due to the new rules in the Premier League transfer window.
The majority of top flight clubs in England voted for the summer transfer window to close two days before the start of the new season. This means Premier League clubs will only be allowed to sign a new player until August 9th. However, they will be able to allow their players to leave until the transfer windows close for other European leagues.
According to Marca, Chelsea understands that if they allow Hazard leave, they’ll struggle to find a replacement for him since they have less than a month to sign a new player. Before the end of the last season, the west London club gave an opportunity for their star player to make his intentions clear.
The report claims the Blues told Hazard to inform them if his decision was to leave. The former Lille star was undecided, and now it’s said to be too late.
Marca claims Hazard is determined to leave Chelsea and has an option of handing in a transfer request, if the Blues don’t grant his wish. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has slapped down a €220m price tag, which is deemed too expensive by Real Madrid.
If Hazard won’t let go of a wish to leave then this one could get messy.
