Updates on the Matthijs de Ligt saga continue to be brought by the Italian media, who detail the battle between Bayern Munich and Chelsea for the Juventus defender.
The latest story, which comes from Calciomercato.it, claims the player’s future will be decided ‘in the next 72 hours’ as he edges close to an exit from the Old Lady.
The report claims De Ligt has Bayern Munich ‘at the top of his preferences’, as his admiration for the Bundesliga side has been going on ‘for a long time’.
However, it’s said the player ‘certainly hasn’t closed the door’ to Chelsea, who are said to be in a hurry to add another centre-back to their squad.
With Bayern Munich the player’s preference, they could be closer to winning the race for an agreement with Juventus as well, because it’s said the club are ‘willing to even reach €100m’ for the signing.
The report doesn’t say how much Chelsea are putting on the table, but according to a report from Corriere dello Sport this morning, the Blues latest bid had been of €80m plus bonuses.
That might be more than what Bayern have put forward so far, but with De Ligt prioritising a move to Germany, that’s what he’ll be focusing on first.
