This morning, Catalan outlet Sport came up with a story saying Chelsea were ‘close to agreeing a deal’ for the signing of Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.
It was said the Blues, who were ‘in constant talk’ for the transfer, were ‘making progress’ so the midfielder can get to the Stamford Bridge this month.
Now as the same outlet features an update on the situation, they claim that De Jong’s agent Ali Dursun has been ‘hunted down’ at the Barcelona airport, with the Camp Nou side looking to accelerate the talks.
Barça are said to be ‘tired of waiting’ as they want the midfielder’s response about the move. Now they want the agent to sort the situation, as his client must either take a pay-cut or go.
The Catalan side are said to have a ‘pre-agreement’ with Chelsea for a transfer which would cost over €80m. Now the Blues must remain the player and ‘those around him’ of completing the transfer.
Dursun’s visit to the city of Barcelona is also reported by Mundo Deportivo, even though the outlet claims he’s there to speak to his clients and not to the Camp Nou side.
It’s said the official wants to show his players, which are De Jong and Martin Braithwaite, the offers they have on the table, so perhaps that’s when the Dutch midfielder will take a decision on Chelsea’s bid.
