Bruno Guimarães continues to have his glory days in Brazil. Since scoring Athletico’s winner in the Copa do Brasil final against Internacional on Wednesday, he’s getting all the attention from the media.

The 21-year-old’s talent hasn’t gone unnoticed for European sides, since it’s been reported that Chelsea have scouted him in that game, being the fifth time the Blues have had an official watching the player this season.

Today, Jorge Nicola’s blog on Yahoo has a story called ‘Get to know the story of Bruno Guimarães, the best defensive midfielder in Brazilian football’, and it brings a few details which the Stamford Bridge side may be interested in.

The main one is obviously the price. Jorge Nicola has spoken to a friend of the player who said he’s not leaving for anything less than his €40m release clause.

“Athletico have already warned they don’t even want to sit down to talk about selling. Bruno only leaves if the clause is paid”, Nicola was told.

It’s also made clear that not even the release clause may be enough to take him from Athletico. Shanghai Shenhua wanted to pay for it, but the player said no, even though his monthly salary in China would give him the same as eight years with his current wages in Brazil.

Nicola says Bruno never wanted to go to China, but the rejection may also have something to do with Atletico Madrid’s interest in him. The Spanish side have the priority over him since they’ve signed Renan Lodi from Athletico this summer.

Chelsea are not mentioned this time, although this is more of a story about his past, and not the offers that are coming for his future.

More rumours are certainly about to come.
