Ilaix Moriba has entered his final year of contract and Barcelona have struggled to tie him down to a new deal.

On August 2nd, Sport explained the Catalan club ‘fear’ Chelsea are preparing to snatch the 18-year-old away from the Camp Nou.

Mundo Deportivo on Saturday state there is ‘no news’ from the midfielder or his agents on renewing the contract, after Ronald Koeman’s side made their last offer ten days ago.

Barca have ‘set Sunday as the deadline’ to receive a response and if there isn’t one, they consider the youngster ‘lost’ and ‘rule out’ him signing an extension.

The Blaugrana are of the belief there would have been a response and his camp would try to find a resolution, if Moriba wanted to continue.

Joan Laporta has already opened the door for the teenager to leave the club if he has no intention to sign the contract offered by them.

The Spanish giants are now waiting for his agents to get offers, something they haven’t received so far. Barca ‘fear’ the player’s camp are ‘buying time’ to negotiate the contract with their future club.

When discussing suitors, Thomas Tuchel’s side get a mention as Mundo state Chelsea have ‘taken most strength, with a dizzying offer’. Moriba is also on the agenda of Manchester City, Marseille and German clubs, where his representatives have ‘good contacts’.

Mundo end their report by stating, ‘Suitors are sure not to be lacking because the boy has a great future. Of course, it seems, far from the Camp Nou’.

Chelsea failed in their efforts to sign Moriba before he last signed a contract in 2019 and will be provided with another opportunity to land the youngster this summer.
