AS Roma star Radja Nainggolan was strongly linked to Chelsea before the Euros, but the Belgian international has been reluctant to leave the Serie A club.

The Serie A club were also keen on keeping him, and in the end Chelsea moved on to sign N’Golo Kante.

However, claims in the Italian media today suggest Chelsea made a final attempt to sign Nainggolan recently.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport in their Roma section on Friday, Chelsea made an offer of €40m to AS Roma for Nainggolan, and €5m/season net income to the player last week.

Gazzetta say the offer was rejected, and Nainggolan will now sign a new contract at AS Roma. The 28-year-old has been offered a €4m/season contract till 2020, and a deal could be announced in the first week of September.

It is reported how Conte wanted to build his Chelsea team around Nainggolan, but it’s not going to happen.

N’golo Kante and Radja Nainggolan in one window would just be greedy.
