Lucas Piazon has completed on Monday his transfer to Rio Ave, where he’s spending the next two years on a loan spell from Chelsea.
The Brazilian, whose contract with the London side was supposed to expire in 2021, has now renewed his deal with the Blues before making the move.
Portuguese newspapers are obviously covering the transfer, and as they speak highly of Piazon, they say Chelsea still trust his potential.
Outlet O Jogo writes the Blues ‘have always seen special capacity in him’ and ‘do not give up on his rights’. That’s why the club are only loaning him out once again.
O Jogo also recalls Piazon being called ‘the new Kaká’ and says manager Carlos Carvalhal will have to ‘polish’ this ‘pearl’.
This will be Piazon’s seventh loan spell. He’s previously been sent to Malaga, Vitesse, Eintracht Frankfurt, Reading, Fulham and Chievo. Now at the age of 25, he tries to prove himself again in hope that, one day, he’ll be a regular at Stamford Bridge.
