While the news from Italy appeared to suggest that Chelsea had overtaken Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Achraf Hakimi, the French media see it differently.
Both Sky Italia and Calciomercato were claiming the Blues were in the lead to sign the Morocco international, but Le10 Sport reckon the player is heading towards the Parc des Princes.
The French website explain that Paris Saint-Germain and Inter are ‘very close to an agreement for a fee of around €70m’.
While nothing is done just yet, ‘the positions have been getting much closer’ recently after the Ligue 1 side had reached a ‘contractual agreement’ and ‘optimism is growing’ from all sides.
As for Chelsea, they are ‘starting to understand’ the French side are taking a lead, and a ‘source close to the English club has confirmed they are starting to resign themselves’ that they are in a losing battle ‘despite pushing strongly for 10 days’.
Just something to bear in mind if you were starting to get excited about Hakimi potentially ending up at Stamford Bridge.
