A regular starter for Chelsea under Frank Lampard this season despite the numerous rumours of an exit, N’Golo Kanté was, unsurprisingly, called up by Didier Deschamps for the international break.

The midfielder has become part of the furniture in the France manager’s plans for the past few years, and only injury would see him miss important games for his country.

Well, that’s exactly what’s happening on Wednesday evening, as Bertrand Latour, a journalist for L’Equipe, is reporting Kanté will miss tonight’s game against Croatia, and he isn’t even on the team sheet.

The reporter explains the Chelsea star is suffering from ‘muscle pain’, although there aren’t many more details given, and joins Dayot Upamecano on the sidelines.

There will be hope over at Stamford Bridge this isn’t anything serious ahead of Saturday’s 3pm kick off game against Southampton, as Kanté has played all but seven minutes of Premier League action this season.
