Chelsea fullback César Azpilicueta has given an interview to ESPN Brasil ahead of Friday’s Premier League clash against Liverpool.

Talking to João Castello Branco, the player talked mostly about Jurgen Klopp’s side and the Brazilian (or now Spanish) Chelsea players.

Asked if it’s true he’s called Dave in England, Azpilicueta confirmed: “Yes. Because they said my name was too complicated and simplified it.”

Chatting about Friday’s opponents, the player gave a lot of praise to the Reds’ team: “We know hey have a lot of quality, a lot of movement, they are scoring a lot of goals, so we have to play as a team. We know that they have other qualities too, and we need to stop them and show the talent we have in our team.”

On the recent signing David Luiz, Azpilicueta made clear that he’s not a new player for the squad: “It’s his second time here. He knows everyone. He knows most of the teammates, because we were here when he left. It’s important to have quality in the squad, because in these cases we have different options.”

He also talked about Diego Costa, who already has four goals in four games this season: “He’s working very hard, he’s been finding the way to he goal. He’s helping the team a lot. Not only with the goals, which is the most important, but also with the creation, with his movement, creating space for other players.

“We all know the passion and will he always has. His desire to always want to win, wanting to score goals, to fight for the team, which is the most important thing. When he plays like this, I benefit at Chelsea and at the Spanish national team.”
