Chelsea midfielder Jorginho remains ‘in the agenda’ for Juventus as they look to add a regista style midfielder to their squad.
That’s according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, who says that sporting director Federico Cherubini is still eyeing a move for the Italian two years after Maurizio Sarri wanted to sign him for the club.
The newspaper explains that Juventus have decided to block any midfield exits for the time being, but there will be a change in that department at some point.
The ‘regista problems remains unsolved’, and that is why Chelsea midfielder Jorginho is ‘in great evidence’ on Cherubini’s agenda.
Sarri wanted him for Juventus two seasons ago, but Chelsea refused to do a deal, and he ended up staying at Stamford Bridge.
He’s since established himself as a key player for club and country, but this summer will see him enter the final year of his deal with the Blues.
The 30-year-old is currently on a contract worth €6m a year net, but Chelsea have a policy of offering reduced terms and contract lengths once players reach 30 and so any extension is likely to involve extensive negotiations to suit both parties.
The midfielder, alternatively, could just look to move on, and the idea of returning to Italy could be ‘intriguing’ for him, particularly if it was for an ‘important project like Juventus’.
Indeed, there has already been ‘some approach’ with the Chelsea star’s entourage, presumably to sound him out regarding a possible deal.
Nothing is advanced at the moment, and the newspaper states the ‘path is obviously still long’, but the interest is there nonetheless.
