Alvaro Morata didn’t train on Thursday with the Spanish squad, because he’s got some pain… in a nail.
The Chelsea striker was Antonio Conte’s key player at the weekend as Manchester United were dispatched at Stamford Bridge, but on Wednesday he was unable to take part in full Spain training.
Morata was joined on the sidelines by Pepe Reina, who is suffering from a back issue, and both players did separate work, report Marca. On Wednesday afternoon, the Chelsea player then did some work in the gym.
Mundo Deportivo say it’s a toenail issue, which would make sense, and they don’t think it’s going to prevent Morata playing for Spain.
El Confidencial say Morata is one of a small number of players suffering from a ‘petty annoyance’.
The Chelsea player has granted a big interview to Marca for their Thursday edition, and didn’t mention the issue once.
It’s worth noting that AS, another Spanish newspaper, get the injuries mixed up in their Thursday edition, and state Morata has a back problem and Reina a nail issue, which, judging from all the other reports, is a mistake.
