Chelsea signing Davide Zappacosta towards the end of the transfer window left many underwhelmed.

The Premier League champions had been linked with a string of more expensive and glamorous options, but many of those links were inaccurate and hyped during the window to help stories roll along and clicks come in.

It created an expectation of something bigger and the arrival of Zappacosta wasn’t the fanfare signing that many had been waiting for. Regardless of that, if the 25 year old is what Antonio Costa wants then it doesn’t really matter how much his signing excited Twitter or not.

A great performance and goal against FC Qarabag has seen Mundo Deportivo pick the Chelsea player in their Champions League Team of the Week. A new effort from the Catalan newspaper, Zappacosta joins a couple of Barcelona players, naturally, and two more from the Premier League.

Mundo Deportivo believe Zappacosta had an all-round great night, and Conte will be pleased with the widespread praise his man is getting.
