Despite having to come off against Liverpool for worsening an ankle injury, N’Golo Kanté was still called up by Didier Deschamps for the upcoming France fixtures.

The Chelsea star turned up, but it was quickly apparent that he wouldn’t be able to feature for any of the fixtures, which is why he’s been sent back to England.

The news was made official on Wednesday when French journalists, including Le Parisien’s Benjamin Quarez, started reporting that both Corentin Tolisso and N’Golo Kanté would be leaving the France squad and be replaced by Mattéo Guendouzi and Adrien Rabiot.

That means the Chelsea man will likely return to England where he can recover in peace, which will be a big boost to Thomas Tuchel and co., who would have been worried about the condition his player might come back in if he’d featured in the next couple of weeks for his country.

Julien Maynard also added that Tolisso was injured on his calf, while confirming Kanté was leaving due to an ankle issue and the two replacements will join up with the group on Thursday morning.
