Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández is in constant contact with Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni as he aims to be fit for the Copa América this summer.
That’s according to Ole, who say preparation is well underway for the midfielder after his surgery to solve a hernia problem.
They report that the midfielder has already started gym work at Chelsea after returning from surgery, which ruled him out for the rest of the season.
The ‘countdown’ is on for the summer, with 42 days left before the start of the Copa América, which he is determined to be a part of with Argentina.
The midfielder spent 13 days recovering from the surgery with his partner and children before hitting the gym and doing indoor weight training with Chelsea at their Cobham Training Centre.
He’s started muscle mobility exercises and routines designed to bright strength back to the ‘laparoscopic surgery area’ and that is the first step towards him being fit for the Copa América.
The Chelsea man’s priority was to feature at the tournament in optimal condition and that is why he agreed to have the surgery in the first place, advised by Chelsea and Argentina’s doctors as well as a trusted kinesiologist with whom he’s worked for years.
Argentina manager Scaloni and his team are paying close attention to the situation and his development and the manager has been in contact with Enzo during the clinical process to better understand his physical state.
The countdown is now on to see if he’ll be fit and ready for the summer tournament, but the hope is that he will be after starting his recovery post surgery.
