Fenerbahçe manager Dick Advocaat has started to work on his winter transfer targets and has told his board they need to strengthen their midfield, with claims they are interested in Chelsea’s Marco van Ginkel, according to ASpor.
Van Ginkel is known for his great passing ability and good composure on the ball, but these attributes haven’t convinced Chelsea manager Antonio Conte. The Dutchman has yet to feature for Chelsea this season mainly due to injury, and the 24-year old could be a good signing for Fenerbahçe.
As it stands there are no reports whether a move to Turkey would be on a permanent transfer or loan, and talks have yet to commence.
Signing for Fener could be a good move for Van Ginkel with the Dutch players currently at the Turkish club, including Jeremain Lens, on loan from Sunderland, Robin van Persie and Gregory van der Wiel.
Van Ginkel’s career is stagnating currently, but if a move materialised he could kick start his career like Lens has. Lens was overlooked by David Moyes at Sunderland, but his Fenerbahçe performances earned him a call-up to Danny Blind’s side during the last internationals.
Signed from Vitesse by Andre Villas Boas, Van Ginkel has had loan spells with AC Milan, Stoke City and PSV respectively since joining the West London side.
Van Ginkel is currently playing PL2 football with Chelsea’s U23 side, and needs play regular first team football to win his place back in the Netherlands national squad.
