Scoring the first of Chelsea’s two against Atlético Madrid on Wednesday night with a great header, Alvaro Morata continued his impressive goalscoring form for the Blues.
Seemingly brought in as an alternative to Romelu Lukaku after the Belgian ended up going to Manchester United, the Spaniard has made Antonio Conte forget all about the former Everton striker, scoring seven goals and picking up two assists in eight games.
Furthermore, it seems the forward has also forgotten all about his own alleged aborted move to Old Trafford, telling Onda Cero on Wednesday night how happy he was to be at Stamford Bridge.
Relayed by TodoMercadoWeb, he said: “We played really well. We sent a clear message, that we can do great things. The game ended well for us, we had many opportunities.
“We have a great team. If we fight and move forward together, we can do great things. I’m very happy with how they welcomed me, everything is amazing”.
Considering Morata looked intent on staying at Real Madrid at the beginning of the summer after picking up a Champions League with the La Liga winners, it’s fair to say it’s worked out quite well for him.
Next up, trying to beat Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City as Chelsea look to move into the top two in their hunt to defend their Premier League title.
