Chelsea have not given up on Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries but he is not the only option for Thomas Tuchel and co.
That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport, who cover the transfer rumours around the player today.
The newspaper states that the Blues have ‘sounded out’ Inter Milan about a potential deal and have been told that he will not be sold for less than €50m.
That’s the same price that Chelsea are reportedly willing to pay for Marc Cucurella but those in charge at Stamford Bridge believe they can get a discount after the negotiations for Romelu Lukaku.
They have a ‘privileged channel’ and believe that Inter could be ‘more malleable’ in terms of their asking price. At the moment, though, they don’t consider Dumfries a priority.
They are looking at alternatives to the Dutchman as well but a move won’t become a priority unless Cesar Azpilicueta departs, which is still a possibility.
Inter Milan aren’t keen to sell Dumfries to Chelsea as it would cause ‘considerable damage’ to Simone Inzaghi’s side but if they or another side put an offer on the table that is impossible to refuse they will have to accept it
That’s because those higher up have demanded that the club make up a €60-80m deficit this summer and selling Dumfries for a major profit would help with that.
At the moment Chelsea are yet to make such an offer but they remain ‘vigilant’ to the situation and could do so at some point in the market.
