Daniele Rugani has for years been linked with a move to the Premier League. Still only 23 years of age, Rugani started 22 Serie A games last season, twice his previous best.
Arsenal were linked for some time and the player’s agent often speaks about interest from elsewhere, but usually clarifies that Rugani is happy where he is.
Chelsea rumours started this week, and Friday’s edition of Tuttosport continues them. Juventus are looking to sell players to enable them to move for others quickly, such as Joao Cancelo, and the Chelsea link with Rugani is seen as an opportunity.
Maurizio Sarri, who the Italian media again think is close to Chelsea, is a big fan of the player, having worked with him when Rugani was on loan at Empoli.
Sarri ‘launched’ Rugani, explain Tuttosport, and it’s felt the player could help his former manager get his defensive plans into action quickly at Stamford Bridge.
The Italian tried to sign Rugani on ‘several occasions’ for Napoli, and it therefore follows that the interest would continue.
If Chelsea put a minimum of €40m on the table then the transfer is ‘far from impossible’, according to the claims.
