Two days ago, Calciomercato stated Chelsea are in the race to sign Barcelona youngster Mikayil Faye in the summer.

The Premier League side were mentioned in a report that talked about Juventus’ interest in the 19-year-old.

Saturday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo states Chelsea and the Serie A side are among the clubs following the defender.

The newspaper explains the La Liga side have several options in the centre-back position and are ‘obliged’ to get rid some of them in the next window.

Faye, who has been part of the Barca reserve team this season, hasn’t yet made his first team debut, and has still been included in the transfer list.

If he has no option to make it to Barca’s senior team next season, Mundo say Faye plans to accept one of the offers already on the table.

Barcelona, for their part, are rubbing their hands as Chelsea and other clubs are following the Senegal international. The report says there’s ‘an inevitable transfer’ for Faye coming up.

Over at Tutto Juve, they also mention that the Blues and the Old Lady are in the picture to sign the teenager.

His performances and his potential have attracted the attention of several clubs across Europe.

With regards to Chelsea, Tutto Juve state they have ‘shown a strong interest’ in securing Faye’s services.

Meanwhile, the Turin club have intensified their interest in the young defender.

In our opinion, the Catalan media seem to be bordering on delusion over Faye. They want to create the idea of a battle of the giants for Faye, with Manchester United also linked, and a big fee in the works.

But he hasn’t made his debut, Barcelona have been said to want a buy-back clause, and this all feels like the club’s loyal media trying to wish this scenario into existence.
