Sevilla are keeping track of Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso ahead of a potential move this summer.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who report that the Spanish side could be on the hunt for a new left-back as they are set to lose Sergio Reguilón and potentially Sergio Escudero too.
Director of football Monchi is working on a list of potential targets and has ‘screened’ a list of ‘A options’.
And Estadio Deportivo have learned that one of those is Chelsea’s Alonso, with the La Liga club, said to be ‘very attentive’ to what happens to him this summer.
It’s been widely reported that he could leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with Frank Lampard’s side having been heavily linked with a move for Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell.
The website explains that any deal for the Spaniard would be ‘as ambitious as it is financially demanding’ for Sevilla and would only be possible if the situation will allow for it.
Monchi believes any deal would be ‘very expensive’ and there may be plenty of competition for him, so will remain ‘vigilant’ in case Chelsea decide to put him on the market for an ‘affordable’ price.
What that price would be isn’t mentioned, although the website does make clear that Transfermarkt – a website that specialises in valuing players – has him at around €20m.
That’s just under the £20.7m that Chelsea paid to sign him from Fiorentina in 2016 so could be about right, although it’s very likely the Blues will push for as much as possible to give themselves extra funds to spend elsewhere.
Either way, if they decide to sell and the price is right, Sevilla will undoubtedly be there although for now, it seems they’re sitting in the background and waiting to see what happens before making their move for the 29-year-old.
