Güneş report Chelsea haven’t given up on signing Simon Kjaer and the English club are ready to offer Branislav Ivanvovic as a part of deal for the Danish international.
Chelsea reportedly recently offered Fenerbahçe €14m for Kjaer, but the Turkish giants currently aren’t interested in that offer, although their stance might change if the club include Ivanovic in the deal.
Fenerbahçe aren’t keen on selling their prized asset in January because they’re competing on three fronts. The Turkish club have managed to turn their form around, and they’re now serious contenders for the league title.
Any deal for Kjaer will therefore will not be discussed until May, as far as his current club have been concerned, but Chelsea boss Antonio Conte reportedly wants Kjaer in this window.
With Ivanovic finding his chances limited after Conte changed his formation, the 32-year old’s time at Chelsea looks to be coming to an end.
His contract expires in the summer, and a host of clubs including Juventus, Barcelona, Olympiacos and Galatasaray have been linked with him.
Denmark captain Kjaer is a key player for Fenerbahçe and is a fan favourite. The 27-year old played 68 games for Fenerbahçe following his €7.75 million from Lille.
It’s hard to tell whether this is genuine Chelsea interest, or the Turkish media wanting to remind everyone how well Kjaer has been playing.
