The front page of Wednesday’s A Bola has a big Chelsea story.
It’s claimed the Blues are set to make an attack to sign Matheus Nunes from Sporting this summer. Wolves had been linked with the midfielder repeatedly, and it was even stated they were about to offer €45m plus a further €5m in bonus payments, however, they haven’t been able to find the money available, and Nunes himself has been holding out for a better offer.
A Bola say Bruno Lage’s side still have Nunes at the top of their list of wanted players, yet there’s now the chance they could miss out to Chelsea.
According to the report, the London club are set to make an offer for Nunes, of exactly the same figures Wolves were preparing, €45m + €5m. That offer could come as quickly as today.
Wolves are said to be unable to advance, due to Ruben Neves not having left the club this summer.
According to the report, Nunes would see a move to Chelsea in a better light than Wolves, with Thomas Tuchel’s side able to offer him Champions League football and the chance to fight for the biggest trophies.
The 23-year-old is not directly represented by Gestifute, yet there’s a good chance Jorge Mendes is involved in any potential deal.
