Antonio Rüdiger has left Chelsea for Real Madrid and the Blues have confirmed Andreas Christensen will leave the club when his contract with them expires on June 30th.

The situation has forced the west London club to look for a new centre-back in the ongoing window.

Various reports have pushed forward Jules Koundé as the main option, with Sevilla chief  admitting the Premier League side can be an attractive option for him. Koundé suffered an injury setback earlier this week and had to undergo surgery.

Even before the La Liga man’s injury blow, Chelsea had been looking at other defenders and this includes Matthijs de Ligt. On Tuesday, Corriere dello Sport explained that Thomas Tuchel’s side are leading the squad of suitors for the Juventus player.

Calciomercato have a report detailing the Netherlands international’s contract situation, and his suitors.

Having finished fourth in the last two seasons, the 22-year-old is asking the Serie A side for sporting guarantees and wants his release clause lowered from €120m [in 2022] to €80m.

While the ex-Ajax man’s renewal is proceeding at a slow pace, there are clubs ‘ready to take advantage’ of his situation at Juve. This includes Chelsea, who are ‘serious’ about the player.

De Ligt is in no hurry to make a decision as he wants to carefully consider the next move in a summer window which is vital for the development of his career.

Although Chelsea are ‘serious’ about the Dutchman, Calciomercato add they are not alone in the chase for De Ligt.
